New supports available for Nova Scotian’s with disabilities

Nova Scotian’s with disabilities will have more independence when it comes to where they live with the launch of the new HomeShare program.

Starting today, participants can choose to share a home with an established support provider in the community of their choice.

Each match is based on individual needs, interests, and routines, and includes options for those who may require a full-time presence or overnight support.

Providers can help with tasks like preparing meals, organizing transportation, health management, and community involvement.

The program comes as a commitment under the Nova Scotia Human Rights Remedy, a five-year agreement that guides government work to transform the disability support system across the province.
