Constance Glube, First Female Appointed Chief Justice In Canadian Court, Dies

A recipient of the Order of Canada and Order of Nova Scotia has died.

Constance Glube passed away Monday at age 84.

Glube became the first woman to be appointed Chief Justice of a Canadian court in 1982.

She was also named Chief Justice of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal in 1998.

Premier Stephen McNeil says Glube maintained a lifelong commitment to gender, ethnic and religious equality and opportunity.

He offered his condolenses to her family on behalf of the Nova Scotia government.
