A Lunenburg county shelter for distressed animals is embracing technology.
Starting today, all pets at S.H.A.I.D. Tree will be micro-chipped before they’re adopted.
Administrator Rebecca Rowsell says it will help keep your pet safe.
“It is injected underneath the skin of your pet,” she says, “You basically hold the scanner over your pet it reads the number of the chip at we can tell who that pet belongs to.”
Rowsell says owners will need to register the chip so they know who to contact when a pet is found.
She says, despite the added service, adoption fees will remain the same.
