Bridgewater: Town Talks Transit

It’s back to bus talk in the Town of Bridgewater.

The results of a feasibility study commissioned last year will be presented tomorrow at a public meeting.

Councillor Michael Graves says the study looked into some of the logistics of having a transit system along with the cost.

“So, do we have the fiscal capacity to pay for a transit system? It should also detail the types of buses we should be using.”

Graves says they’re especially looking to hear from those with mobility limitations.

“That’s part of what the system is for, right? And we also want to hear from people living on the edge of poverty because that’s also what the bus is for, right? And, if we can improve their quality of life then I think we’ve done a pretty good job.”

Graves says they’re looking to Yarmouth, who introduced their own transit system last summer, as an example.

He says people will have a chance to share their thoughts at the meeting which starts at 3 p.m. at town hall.
