Quebec Mosque Shooting Victims To Be Honoured In Blockhouse

A service will be held in Blockhouse to honour the six people killed in the Quebec mosque shooting this week.

Imam of the Blockhouse Mosque, Sam Saied says there has been an outpouring of support from the community.

“People were very considerate and very sad for what happened. And they showed their solidarity with the muslim community and they felt regret for the violence and the criminal act that happened in Quebec City.”

Saied says the community hasn’t been shy about reaching out to members of the Islamic community.

“We’re receiving e-mails on our website. We’ve been receiving flower bouquets at our mosque in Blockhouse and people come into my place of work and they’re very sad and even crying.”

He invites everyone to come to the service to meet with members of the Islamic community.

The memorial gets underway at 2:00pm this Friday at the Blockhouse Mosque which is directly across from the fire hall in Blockhouse.
