MODL: Agricultural Park Proposed For Vacant Land

A plot of land in Lunenburg County could become a testing ground for wine grapes.

A proposal made to the Municipality of Lunenburg would see 12 acres of vacant land turned into an agricultural laboratory.

Wine producers would be able to test grapes before planting them on their own land.

Development Officer Dave Waters says the idea would be beneficial for the municipality.

“We have a very progressive agriculture sector in Lunenburg County and this type of establishment helps to develop business opportunities in the District of Lunenburg so it ties in very well.”

Waters says the proposal is still in the early stages with 2018 being the soonest anything could be planted.

He says space for a brewery and permanent farmers market is also being considered.
