The Curl For A Cause charity bonspiel benefits Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital with much-needed new beds.
The veterans unit of the hospital in Lunenburg will be the recipient of more than 38-thousand raised this weekend.
Health Services Foundation’s Arleen Stevens says thanks to the board double the number of beds will be replaced.
“The bonspiel money will buy five beds for the veterans unit. And actually the board members for the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore has matched those five beds.
Stevens says the veterans unit was in dire need of new beds.
Some of the beds in the unit are more than 3 decades old.
