Queens General Hospital in Liverpool gets new equipment for better emergency and patient care.
The Hospital Auxiliary raised more than $42,000.
Health Services manager, Debbie Doucette, says the auxiliary concentrates on donating money towards emergency and medical care equipment.
The new $13,000 bladder scanner, for example, will help with diagnostics and eliminate unnecessary procedures.
“There used to scan an individual’s bladder; therefore we can tell whether or not we need to insert a full catheter or not.”
Doucette says this will be a second scanner to accommodate high demand.
The hospital will also receive six new wheelchairs, specialized medical mattresses, a digital scale, and tables.
She says today’s contribution from the hospital auxiliary stays in the community and goes a long way to improving patient comfort and care.
