Amalgamation talks continue to stall between four Lunenburg County communities.
Bridgewater Mayor, David Walker says part of the problem may be that not everyone is on the same page.
“The four units have different understandings of what the facts are,” he says. “That’s because we didn’t all hear the same presentation at the same time.”
The province is encouraging the communities to consider a study that weigh the pros and cons.
Walker says all council members need to be involved in the process which is going to take time.
“To get all the work that’s needed to make a decision is a year, or a year and a half,” he says, “so why not get all our ducks in a row now?”
Bridgewater and the Town of Lunenburg have both expressed interest in a proposed meeting that would see all four councils get together.
They’re still waiting to hear from Mahone Bay and the Municipality of Lunenburg.
Walker says if all councils agree, the meeting will be scheduled late next month.
