Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg is in need of three beds, a trauma stretcher and a trauma light.
It’s the goal of this weekend’s West Nova Fuels Curl for a Cause to raise enough money to purchase the equipment.
This is the 19th year for the annual bonspiel organized by the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore.
Development Officer, Alison Clements, says the event has long-standing support in the community.
“It started out with a group of volunteers doing a fundraiser for their local hospital and here we are almost two decades later. It has raised over $504,000 over its years.”
The goal is to raise $40,000 this year.
The event includes a silent auction, community breakfasts, a meet-and-greet supper and of course, curling.
Ninety-six curlers are participating in the three-day event beginning Friday at the Lunenburg Curling Club.
