Mustangs’ Haughn Resigns As President

There will be a new president of the South Shore Mustangs major midget hockey organization.

Lionel Haughn has resigned from his position telling Acadia News that it’s time to move on and make way for new blood and younger ideas.

The 79 year-old spent 16 years on the executive board including 10 as president.

“I enjoyed every game and they are all good memories,” says Haughn.

“Tonight a fellow that played for us eight years ago came up and said ‘How have you been?’ It makes an old man feel good.”

Another board member, Eric Caines, also submitted his resignation.

Haughn says the board is strong but he will miss time in the rink with Mustang players.

“That’s what kept me coming. I enjoy them. They’re great, they’re polite, they’re nice young men.”

Michael Belliveau will serve as interim president until the board meets to decide on next steps.
