Baille Puts Different Spin On Michelin Expansion Money

Premier Darrell Dexter is being criticized for handing out millions of dollars to another large corporation. The N-D-P government will provide 8.9-million dollars to Michelin for expansion of their plant in Waterville, a project that will create 50 jobs. Critics say Michelin is big and doesn’t need the money and the jobs have cost the province about $170,000 each. However, PC leader Jamie Baillie tells us he’s glad Michelin is up-sizing and not downsizing or pulling out.

The premier says it’s a worthwhile, one-time investment to create long-term jobs in such a competitive job environment.
