MODL Participates In Challenge To Get Residents Active

The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is encouraging everyone to get active this month.

They’ve teamed up with the Town of Bridgewater to take part in the Participaction Community Better Challenge.

MODL Active Living Coodinatior, Karen Geddes-Selig says it’s easy for people of all ages and fitness levels to participate.

She said getting involved doesn’t necessarily mean having to go for a run or long walk.

“Someone who is gardening, mowing the lawn, doing their laundry and going up and down stairs, all of those minutes count,” Explained Geddes-Selig.

She said the main goal is to get the community moving, but there’s also a chance to become Canada’s Most Active Community and win $100,000 for local physical activity initiatives.

The most active community in the province will also have a chance to win $15,000 in funding for physical activities.

The challenge is happening from June 1st to the 30th.

To participate, all you need to do is download the free ParticipACTION app.
