LCLC Receives Funding To Support Energy Upgrades

The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre is receiving $1.8 million in funding to support upgrades to improve energy efficiency.

The funding includes $738,000 from the federal government, along with $615,000 from the provincial government and the Lunenburg County Multi Purpose Centre Corporation is contributing almost $493,000.

The project involves the installation of a 50 kilowatt solar panel, more efficient lighting and heating, along with ice plant and pool facility improvements.

In a release, Kent Walsh, General Manager of the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre says he is thankful for the investment.

“We are incredibly grateful to the federal and provincial governments for this funding,” said Walsh. “The upgrades are going to help us to decrease our energy use and greenhouse gas emissions while at the same time increasing the user experience in the facility.”

The upgrades will allow the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs, as well as allow the facility to continue to operate year-round.

The project is expected to get underway later this summer.
