Pets Gone Wild

Last Friday when the thunder and lightning storms rolled through our neighbourhood the transformer on the power pole outside the bedroom window was struck. It snapped and crackled and made a racket for a good ten minutes and it totally freaked out one of our cats.

In fact, I’d never seen this cat so frightened and angry. It paced the hallway and growled like one of it’s larger ancestors from the jungle.

Meanwhile her older sister was quite calm and didn’t seem bothered at all.

Our dog who passed away last year hated thunder and lightning and would hide in the closet for hours during a storm.

The other thing that upsets the animals in our house is the subtle sound of my wife getting the plastic tube of flea treatment once a month. By the time she has picked it up out of the drawer, all the cats are in hiding and will stay hidden for hours.

What ordinary things freak out your pet(s)?
