Mariah Kelley, spokesperson for the municipality said after having to hold last years event virtually, she can’t wait enjoy the event in person again.

“We are all very excited to be able to hold it,” Kelley explained. “It’s one of our highlights of the summer to spend the whole day at the beach, meet people and see everyone’s awesome creations.”

Kelley added that the event will be held very similar to the way it was before the pandemic.

“We are still going to be giving out lots of great prizes,” Kelley said. “Everyone kind of goes off on their own and builds their own sandcastle as they normally would and we will come around and judge them from there.”

She said that this year, spectators will be able to come enjoy the sandcastles and they will even have games of beach volleyball starting at 2p.m.

All participants must register for the in person event and are reminded to bring their own sculpting tools.
