With the Provincial Election getting under way this week, we asked local residents what issues they believe need to addressed by the candidates.
Katharine Wile from Bridgewater said she believes heath care is the first thing that needs to be addressed.
“Wait times are the biggest thing,” said Wile.” Wait times for emergency and wait times for surgery.”
Ronald Woodworth of Bridgewater also said health care is his biggest concern.
He said it worries him that their have been so many emergency departments that are being forced to close their doors due to a lack of physicians.
“Last week Liverpool and Lunenburg were shut down,” said Woodworth. “You can’t get into a hospital around here to get any help.”
He explained that he is also concerned about the long wait times at hospitals.
While speaking with Martin Leneten of Liverpool, he expressed his concern about the current housing crisis.
“There’s no housing available for anyone to even rent.” Leneten explained, ” These people are being put out in the cold.”
He said he believes that this needs to be addressed by candidates because right now there are many people that have no place to live.
Voters will head to the polls August 17th.
