I have this thing about walking around the backyard in my bare feet.
We have a lot of clover patches both white and red which attracts bees at different times of the day. I like sitting on the deck and watching the bees do their thing with the clover.
But it reinforces a fear I’ve had for years – stepping on a bee in bare feet. It hasn’t happened yet but it may as well have for all the anxiety it causes.
As far as the gross factor, I’ve stepped in various presents from dogs and cats while walking down the hall in the dark in bare feet.
Ironically, my worst foot injury wasn’t in bare feet. As a preteen I was playing soccer in the front yard of the neighbours when I went to kick the ball and came into contact with a half-buried piece of two by four with an eight inch rusty nail sticking out of it. The spike went through the bottom of my sneaker , through my arch and came out the top of the sneaker. It actually didn’t hurt too badly until we tried to pull it out.
What’s the worst thing you’ve stepped on in bare feet?
