Today would have been the start of the Big Ex – the South Shore Exhibition.
And I really do miss it.
I don’t miss the rides, but I miss seeing the joy on people’s faces as they get flung about on the Zipper.
I miss “the country” coming to town with all the livestock shows and agricultural displays.
I miss having my once a year loose hamburger on fries.
But the thing I loved about the exhibition most of all was running into people I haven’t seen in years. Let’s face it – if you moved away from the South Shore then you planned to be home for Exhibition Week.
