The captain of the UPS Store South Shore Mustangs has been recognized by the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.
Ryan Semple of Yarmouth was named the league’s most sportsmanlike player.
The 17 year-old had 24 penalty minutes and led the Mustangs in scoring with 34 points in 36 games.
Semple says he was surprised to learn he won the award.
“That’s always the award you look up to when you’re a kid. It’s always something they preached, good sportsmanship so, I’m honoured.”
Head Coach Brogan Bailey says it’s great to see the award go to Semple.
“It’s just super important and I think he got recognized for how much work he put in and how much he improved and what he meant to our team as a whole.”
Semple is in his second season with the Mustangs.
