It’s Radiothon Time Again

Residents of Lunenburg and Queens are being called on to support health services.

This is the ninth year of the ‘Gift From The Heart’ Radiothon on CKBW/Country 100.7.

Money is being raised for six pieces of equipment in the maternal child unit at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater.

The foundation is hoping to purchase an incubator, two labour and delivery beds, an OR light for a caseroom, a phototherapy light and stand and an infant radiant warmer.

Development Officer, Alison Clements, says it’s the only birthing hospital in Lunenburg and Queens counties.

“Any babies born from arguably, the Barrington area to Hubbards, are all born here in Bridgewater.”

Between 375-400 babies are born every year at South Shore Regional.

In eight years, the Radiothon has raised more than $800,000 for medical equipment.

Clements says they’re already in fundraising mode.

“The maternal/child unit team did a waffle cart yesterday and we also did the winter carnival. There is lots of fun things that have been happening before hand. We also have our online auction.”

You can find the online auction by clicking here.

The Radiothon gets underway at 6 a.m. Thursday.
