A familiar name in Queens County is looking forward to getting back to the national women’s curling championship.
Jill Brothers will make her fourth appearance at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts when it gets underway Friday evening.
The former Liverpool resident is the home province hopeful as this year’s event takes place in Sydney, Cape Breton.
Brothers says she’s not feeling any added pressure.
“I’ve always accepted that as positive, not pressure. People are supportive no matter what. I don’t think there needs to be any extra pressure because of it.”
Brothers adds, the experience of representing the province never gets old and looks forward to competing in front of the home crowd.
Brothers and her team will be in tough with defending champion Jennifer Jones, 2017 champion Rachel Homan and 2016 winner Chelsea Carey all in the field.
She says they will play their best and see what happens.
“I’m going in playing against teams that I’ve played before, I’ve seen before and it’s really good to have a great lineup for the crowd as well.”
Nova Scotia will play Scotties rookie Sarah Wark and her B.C. team in their opening draw on Saturday afternoon.
