LaHave Ferry Repaired, Waiting To Go Back Into Service

Anyone relying on the LaHave ferry for their commute will have to wait a while longer.

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Spokesperson Marla MacInnis says repairs are complete and the ferry is awaiting a Transport Canada inspection before resuming operation.

Eight passengers were stuck on the LaHave cable ferry for over six hours Monday when a bullwheel shaft, which propels the ferry, cracked.

The ferry stopped about 200 metres from the eastern shore of the LaHave stranding passengers and crew until 2:30pm.

MacInnis says the department expects the inspection will take place tomorrow.
