The Yarmouth Mariners beat the South Shore 6-1 Wednesday night for their first home win of the year against the Lumberjacks.
The win gives the Mariners a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven MHL Eastlink South Division Final.
Nicolas Tardif scored the lone Lumberjacks goal.
Goaltender Ty Grant allowed five goals on 16 shots before he was pulled in the second period.
Morgan Kini stopped 11 of 12 shots in relief.
Yarmouth Goaltender, Tyler Caseley, made 19 saves for the win and says getting an early lead takes stress off him between the pipes.
“I think that was a big relief, especially in this game where I only had two shots the first period,” says Caseley.
“Those are kind of tough to stay mentally in the game and we had that comfortable lead and, even though they only had two shots, I still felt really comfortable in there.”
Game four is Friday night at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
