Liverpool’s Stewart Attends RCMP’s National Youth Engagement Week

A Liverpool Regional High School student has a better understanding of the RCMP.

Kade Stewart recently attended the Mounties training academy in Regina, Saskatchewan as part of National Youth Engagement Week.

The 18 year-old was one of only two Nova Scotians selected.

He says it was an incredible experience that included physical fitness.

“They had a mock PARE test which is the course they have to run. We did two laps of that and then the push/pull. The have an incredible gym there, it’s massive and they had a big circut set up for us to work out in.”

Stewart adds he also toured the academy and spoke with officers about life in the RCMP.

“It really opened my eyes to how hard it is to become and RCMP member.”

He says he has interest in a policing career after the week-long trip.

Stewart says he plans to write a paper on his experience for one of his classes at school.
