Masland Says Investigation Needed Following Allegations Against Churchill

Allegations against Education Minister should be taken seriously, according to the MLA for Queens-Shelburne.

Zach Churchill has been accused of putting his hands on the current PC Leader.

Two former NDP MLAs have also recently stepped forward and accused Churchill of physical contact and profane language.

The Yarmouth MLA denies all of the allegations.

PC member Kim Masland says there needs to be a next step.

“I feel there should be a full investigation,” says Masland.

“When someone makes an allegation, it should be fully investigated.”

Meanwhile, Masland questioned the premier Thursday in the Nova Scotia Legislature.

She wanted to know if Stephen McNeil was going to take the allegations seriously.

McNeil says he has no record of any accusations by the two former NDP MLAs.

“I went through and looked at correspondence that was in my office here as premier of the province as well as my constituency office to find out whether or not I had been contacted and did a search and there was none.”

The NDP claim Churchill has breached the Legislature’s harrassment policy but McNeil says that’s not the case.
