Memorial Blood Drive in Liverpool, Bridgewater for Former Doctor

A memorial blood drive will be held for a former doctor in the South Shore.

Dr. John Sullivan was a family doctor in Bridgewater and Lunenburg.

He was diagnosed with incurable blood cancer at 48 and received more than 200 transfusions through his treatment before he died in 2018 at age 62.

Director of Donor Relations with Canadian Blood Services, Peter MacDonald, says the blood drive helps create awareness and hopefully will attract new donors.

“We’ve already seen a great influx in terms of the number of appointments that have been pre-booked,” says MacDonald.

“What a great way to make a difference in your community just like Dr. Sullivan did in terms of donating blood and knowing that it is going to someone in need.”

The blood drive begins Tuesday April 30 in Liverpool before it comes to Bridgewater from May 1st to 3rd.
