Kindness Meters To Contribute To Scenic Attraction

Visitors to Mahone Bay will see something new this year.

Kindness meters have been installed a several scenic locations around the town.

The re-purposed parking meters allow people taking in the view to make a contribution to the upkeep of the town’s famous churches.

Reverend Lee Simpson, Chair of the Three Churches Foundation say the tourists who come to small towns on the South Shore are often surprised at how much beauty is offered for free.

“When we can share it and they get to share in response – their small change, well, that’s kinda neat,” says Simpson. “They can plop in a loonie or a toonie and feel that they have paid in some way, for the beauty of this site. And many people feel moved to do so.”

Simpson says this will be the first summer season with the meters in place, and money raised will be awarded to maintain the exteriors of the churches and the scene they help create.
