Bridgewater: Dog Park to Reopen Monday

Canines around Bridgewater are getting their collars ready in anticipation.

The South Shore Vet Dog Zone Dog Park will reopen Monday.

The park closed in early April.

Communications Manager with the Town of Bridgewater, Patrick Hirtle, says staff have been working to fix a drainage issue in the park.

“We’ve had short-term closures a number of different times over the past couple of years because the ground has become too saturated and with staff working on-site over the past couple of few weeks, the drainage solutions that were put in place will prevent those kinds of short-term closures from happening.”

Hirtle says the park was also aerated, fertilized and reseeded to have it in good shape when it opens.

He says it’s a popular spot in the county.

“It’s not just Bridgewater residents, we have folks who travel in from outside areas to make use of it and to have a good time with their dogs and have a bit of doggy socialization as well.”
