Firefighters from multiple departments were called to a house fire Sunday night in Queens County.
Two people managed to escape uninjured from the home along Highway 8 in Milton, which was reported around 5:30 p.m.
The home suffered damage and the Canadian Red Cross says it has helped the couple with emergency lodging and meals for at least one night while they await a damage appraisal and assistance through insurance.
Firefighters from Liverpool, North Queens, Greenfield and Port Medway were on scene while a few others were on standby.
It’s not known what caused the fire.
