Nova Scotia New Democrats are about to have another candidate for party leadership!
Former Truro-area MLA Gary Burrill will announce his intention to run tomorrow night (Thursday).
He says the province is at the point where social investment programs are needed to cure problems ailing health care, economic development and employment.
Burrill says the other two parties just don’t get it.
“They believe in austerity, balancing the books, plain and simple, end of story. There’s an opening (public) understanding that social investment is the way that we have to go.”
Burrill intends to communicate his social investment platform to party members and the public during the campaign.
He’ll be joining already-announced leadership contenders Lenore Zann and Dave Wilson.
A leadership convention is expected next February.
