Chester Setting The Course For Their Next 25 Years

Residents of Chester are about to get a final look at how their community will be developed for the next 25 years.

Municipal staff have been holding meetings over the past three years to get public feedback on updates to the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-laws.

Those documents help council set priorities for things like parking and land development.

Garth Sturtevant, planner for the municipality says people want different things for their community.

“What we hear are fairly standard. Some people are looking for very little regulation and then in other situations we hear from other people who want a level of control.”

Sturtevant says they’re hoping people will engage with the process.

“That’s what these meetings are, is an opportunity for people to come out, have a look at the documents, ask questions of staff, find out how the changes might affect their property or any particular interests that they might have.”

The results of those discussions will be presented at a series of meetings being held beginning April 9.

Residents can get a look at the strategy and make any new suggestions at that time.
