Bridgewater’s O’Toole Invited to Canada’s Junior Baseball Team Spring Training

A Bridgewater baseball player is among the country’s best under the age of 18.

Evan O’Toole is currently in Florida as part of the Junior National Team’s annual spring training camp.

The 17 year-old pitcher is one of 31 players invited.

“It feels amazing to be selected for this,” says O’Toole.

“I went last Fall and it’s a really fun time and overall great experience.”

O’Toole says it helps prepare players for next steps.

“Every day we practice starting at 9 a.m and then we’ll play against a professional team later in the afternoon,” says O’Toole.

“It gets you into the professional lifestyle which opens your eyes to opportunities that can come for you”

O’Toole says it’s his ultimate goal to play professional baseball and believes he needs to get faster and stronger as well as work on better locating his pitches.

The highlight of the week comes March 23 when the team travels to Dunedin to take on a split-squad version of the Toronto Blue Jays.
