Blockhouse: District of Lunenburg Gives Green Light to Courier Services Facility

A new courier services facility could soon be set up in Blockhouse.

The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg has entered into a development agreement with Municipal Enterprises Limited.

The facility would be located at 204 Cornwall Road.

Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says it would further enhance the Blockhouse area.

“I think Blockhouse is becoming its own busines hub. Its proximity is close to the 103 Highway. They always said an hour radius from Halifax and that’s why we’re seeing growth in our municipality.”

There was no opposition to the agreement during a public hearing March 12.

“This is basically a courier. It’s a warehouse where the trucks will load and unload parcels,” says Bolivar-Getson.

“It’s very cohesive to the area and I think it will be well-received.”

People who oppose the development have two weeks to contact the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
