‘Purple Day’ Raising Awareness For Those Living With Epilepsy

People are encouraged to wear purple today to support people living with epilepsy.

‘Purple Day’ started in 2008 after a young Nova Scotia girl wanted to bring more awareness to people living with the condition.

MP for South Shore -St. Margaret’s, Bernadette Jordan, challenged her colleagues in the House of Commons to participate.

“This ‘Purple Day’ let’s send a message to all those affected by epilepsy that they are not alone,” says Jordan.

“I invite all of my colleagues to wear purple on March 26 and continue the conversation to increase awareness and support those struggling with epilepsy.”

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder of the central nervous system.

It is characterized by the tendency to have recurrent seizures and affects over 300,000 Canadians.
