Nova Scotia’s Auditor General says there is cause for concern in his latest findings on the provincial government.
Michael Pickup released his annual report today, following up recommendations he made in 2015 and 2016.
Eighty-seven per cent of his recommendations from 2015 have been established, but only 46 per cent from 2016 are implemented.
“This falls well below what I believe is a reasonable target of 80 per cent completion,” says Pickup.
“When in fact government has typically accepted 100 per cent of those recommendations and government has had two years to implement them.”
Pickup says there are nine departments who successfully completed at least 80 per cent of recommendations and another nine who fall under the target including Community Services, Education and Health and Wellness.
Thirty-two recommendations remain outstanding and Pickup feels departments should work toward their completion to address risks they pose to Nova Scotians.
