Sally Ann Looking For Help To Keep Birds On Ice For Christmas

It’s a twist, but Bridgewater’s Salvation Army is looking for help this Christmas.

Each year the organization distributes over 150 turkeys.

Major Wilson Sutton says the closing of the Bridgewater Sears store earlier this year leaves them with a big problem.

“For many years, Sears had space and freezers available where people could donate turkeys that the Salvation Army would distribute with our hampers throughout the year. Sears closed, and we don’t have that space.”

Sutton says the Salvation Army now has nowhere to keep the turkeys frozen.

“We probably need five, six freezers or someone that had space in a large freezer. Maybe at some facility, a store or a business that wasn’t using it at this time, that could make it available.”

Sutton says they will need to store the turkeys until their hampers are distributed close to Christmas.

Anyone with freezer space can contact Major Wilson Sutton at 902-543-0356.
