Weather Network Forecasts “Busy Winter” For Region

It looks like it will be an active winter across our region.

The Weather Network says temperatures are expected to be above normal values.

They’re predicting a very busy winter for all three Maritime provinces.

Weather Network Meteorologist Dayna Vettese says we’ll have to take the good with the bad.

“We expect a lot of storm systems to be moving through. We will see a healthy dose of both rain and snow so it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting those frigid temperatures that allow snow banks to get mammoth. We expect a lot of back and forth this winter.”

Vettese says the unpredictability of La Niña and El Niño, which affect the jet stream, makes it difficult to nail down a forecast.

“As a person in the Maritimes it gets a little difficult to say “ok, are we in winter, are we in spring or are we in fall.”
