South Shore Cleaning Up After Blizzard

People in the South Shore are digging out after the latest winter storm to hit our region brought high wind and plenty of snow.

Wind gusts reached 105 kilometres an hour and upwards of 70 centimetres of snow fell in some parts.

It’s caused power outages in parts of Lunenburg, Queens and Shelburne counties.

Nova Scotia Power estimates power will be restored by 7 p.m tonight.

The Department of Transportation says the Laconia Road in Lunenburg County is closed due to flooding from the Lapland Road to Jefferson Road.

Highway 103 is listed as covered or partly covered by snow in certain sections.

Meanwhile, schools across the South Shore and Tri-County are closed for a second straight day.

Nova Scotia Community College campuses in Lunenburg, Shelburne and Yarmouth are also closed.
