Summer is coming and that makes us think about sunshine, relaxing and “soaking up some rays”. That should also make you think of sunscreen, aka suntan lotion. Call it what you want, it is important anytime you are in the sunlight, regardless of the season.
Sunscreen Day is a great time to remind ourselves of how important it is to protect ourselves from the sun.
It seems earlier each year that we start hearing high values on the “UV Index” but what does this mean? Basically, the higher the UV Index, the shorter time to burn.

That is why we wear a protective layer of sunscreen.
The first important thing around sunscreen is when you purchase it, look at the SPF or “Sun Protection Factor”. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends SPF 30 or higher for a day outside. The other thing to remember about sunscreen is that you need to reapply every two hours throughout the day.
