I have always loved camping. It was one of the most important weekends of the summer, tenting at Little Rissers Campground. A short walk from the beach and listening to the waves all night is the best.
The other great thing about camping is having a campfire and cooking over the open flame. I am sure some of you have never experienced this and take it from me, you have to give it a try. There is very little chance of being embarrassed when you are cooking outside as well. You can never smoke up the kitchen and if you burn anything, toss it. Just make sure it makes it past any bushes that might be beside your campsite. I do recall one evening while making “spider wieners”, a few were burnt and tossed, but in the morning we found them hanging in the bushes near the tent. For those of you that have never heard of a “spider wiener”, here is how you make that artistic tasty treat.
Just in case you are thinking about doing some outdoor cooking, as soon as the no burn ban is lifted that is. Here are a few simple recipes to try.
