We finally got our tree in yesterday and it was a very “Little House on the Prairie” like event. We took a toboggan and a handsaw (I remembered to take that tool after watching Christmas Vacation) and went down across the field and cut a tree and dragged it back to decorate in the house.
Now there is no need to start sizing up the fir trees around your property, Nova Scotia still grows lots.

When the tree is nestled in a stand with lots of water and decorations, what should go on the top of your Christmas tree? We always had a star when I was growing up. My wife always had an angel as we do now and I remember way back when a buddy of mine had a bottle on the highest bough, haha.
Survey says the star was the top topper in 2019, we will have to see if that has changed in 2020.
