SWEET, A Trip Down A Sugary Memory Lane

I hate how Facebook will dig up older stories from time to time, especially when they cause me to get my hopes up, haha. Last night during Lions Radio Bingo, a post popped up that Ganong was bringing back their peppermints. Now I grew up with there being a dish of those never too far, especially when visiting some family friends and I have to say when they were discontinued, I felt sad. Yes there are other brands, but it just wasn’t the same, so when I saw this, the kid in me got excited.

You asked, we listened. It’s true, Ganong’s iconic Lozenges are making a comeback! The same refreshing minty flavours, handcrafted by our skilled Ganong candy makers have been released from the Ganong candy vault just for a LIMITED TIME in a collectible keepsake tin! Just another way we’re helping Canadians celebrate their #sweetestmoments.

Then I noticed the date was February 4th on the post and when I went searching this morning, this is what I found.

So that got me thinking about the candy that we enjoyed growing up. I would say Nerds would be one of the top ones for me, even had the t-shirt, haha

Then there were the Fun Dips, a sugar stick that you licked and stuck in two flavors of sugar, haha. Don’t forget the classic “Made with real fruit” claims that came with Fruit Rollups. I thought that was my list until I went looking for the top candies of Canada’s past and realized I forgot Popeye Cigarettes and Fizz.

Top 10 Retro Canadian Candies

Incase your favorite is not on that list here are the top items to cause a sugar high ever, according to the internet of course. haha

Now that we talked about candy, go grab some ice cream. Today is “Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day“. Enjoy
