Standing outside visiting in Wentzells Lake Tuesday night, there was a mosquito sighting. Now this seems way too early, but serves as a reminder that spring is here, the weather has not been very cold, and the insects will soon be joining our outdoor activities.
If you are a gardener, you can do what you love AND potentially lower the population of friendly flyers around your home at the same time. These plants are supposed to keep mosquitoes away, so it might be a good idea to include some of them in your planting plans.

The other critters that become more active as the weather warms up, TICKS. More and more I am hearing stories about people that have contracted Lyme Disease from ticks. The worst part of these stories is that more often than not these folks suffer lasting effects from this disease.

I am hopeful a vaccine for Lyme Disease will be the next on the list after CoVid is brought under control.
I had a call reporting that a lady in Wileville contracted Lyme Disease from a mosquito bit… I don’t want to discredit this caller, but I am hoping the officials are correct when they say that ticks are the only critters that can spread the disease.
- There is no credible evidence that Lyme disease can be transmitted through air, food, water, or from the bites of mosquitoes, flies, fleas, or lice.
