I look at recycling as a great thing, but also have always thought it should be a last resort. Reusing makes more sense to me in an energy conscious world. I remember when Mom and Dad would take glass pop bottles to get refilled, certainly take less energy to sterilize than it does to melt down and mold into something new. That is why I get so frustrated with newer vehicles too. We had a universal joint go on the SUV and instead of that small part being replaceable, the entire drive shaft that runs the length of the vehicle had to be replaced. That kind of thing seems very wasteful to me.
When it comes to toys, I fell the same rule applies, best if they can be passed on to someone that will use them when you are finished with them. But if that is not an option, there is now another way to keep those old toys from the landfill. “Mattel PlayBack” wants your old Mattel toys.
