Are Prepared Drivers A Thing Of The Past?

Last evening was the typical “everything that can go wrong will” evening for one driver. A flat tire on the busy Trunk 10, just as it started pouring rain, and no jack in the car. Well we had a jack and wheel wrench and were able to get the spare on and he continued on his way. I was thinking, really, no jack or wrench in a car? But then I remembered, I don’t even have the spare on my truck most of the time when I am hauling a load. Not to jinx myself with this question, but is getting a flat as common as it once was?
Maybe a bigger question is, who actually knows how to change a flat tire anymore?

So if you fall into the “I don’t know if I am prepared, should I get a flat tire” club… Might be a good idea to make sure you have a spare, jack and a wheel wrench and brush up on your skills. There are many places on the South Shore that don’t have cell service to call CAA and hitching a ride is not a reliable option.
