The Best Way To Get Bugs To Buzz OFF Is???

Another warm day and with evenings like last night, I just wish the insects would bug off enough to be able to go out and enjoy the great outdoors. I wanted to mow the lawn last night, but the swarming blackflies combined with the buzzing mosquitoes made me reconsider.
So what can you do? Do we have to either sign up to feed the bugs or miss out on beautiful evenings??
There are many devices available that promise to remedy the problem and allow you to enjoy the spring weather bug free, but do any of them really work?

I have also heard of burning coffee carriers, of course citronella candles are the old standard, but I have never had much success.
So if you are using insect repellent, what should you use? According to the experts these are the most effective insect repellents available are listed in the link below. I also see a lot of locally made products available now too. So is there one that works better?
Whatever insect repellent product you are using, make sure you use it correctly.

Proper application and use is essential, both for maximum protection and to avoid possible side effects, including skin or eye irritation. That means:

• Apply repellent only to exposed skin or clothing (as directed on the product label). Never put it on under clothing.

• Use just enough to cover and only for as long as needed; heavier doses don’t work better and can increase risks.

• Don’t apply repellents over cuts, wounds or irritated skin. When applying to your face, spray first on your hands, and then rub in, avoiding your eyes and mouth – using sparingly around ears.

• Don’t let young children apply. Instead, put it on your own hands, and then rub it on. Limit use on children’s hands because they often put their hands in their eyes and mouths.

• Don’t use near food, and wash hands after application and before eating or drinking.

• At the end of the day, wash treated skin with soap and water, and wash treated clothing in a separate wash before wearing again.

• Using repellents on your clothes CAN damage leather and vinyl, and stain synthetic fabrics.

Don’t Use Combination Sunscreen-Insect Repellent Products —sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours, which could overexpose the user to the chemicals in repellents.
