Summertime is the time of year to relax and enjoy life worry free, right? Well even though the weather is warmer, storms are still a concern. As we watch tropical storm Elsa make her way up the coast, I wonder who is actually ready?
I am not exactly talking about filling sandbags and boarding up windows. Maybe the fear of being snowed in is not a worry this time of year, but flooding can still be a problem. Of course hail can happen too, like in Cardston, Alberta on Monday.
So what do you need to have on hand to actually be “prepared” for a summer storm?
An emergency preparedness kit is good year round. Ultimately you need to have enough stuff to be able to get by for 72 hours or 3 days. If the power goes out, internet and cell connections are down and the roads are blocked, you might be a bit bored, but will be just fine. AND YES, there is a radio needed in this kit too, haha.
Besides the prediction of a busy hurricane season, this summer’s warm temperatures are predicted to continue too. Here is the latest prediction for warmth.
