An odd conversation the other evening with my wife made me feel like I could be the next Masterchef. She was telling me about a friend that actually followed the recipe for Kraft Dinner. Now if it wasn’t for KD and Doritos, I would have likely perished in college. I think when I was first learning to cook as a kid, I might have actually measured things out when cooking this cheesy dish, but not as an “adult”. If you are wondering, we are the biggest KD consumers in the world.
Then I got thinking, there are a lot of things that I cook without a recipe. Now that is good and bad. Things go a bit quicker without reading directions and it does make substituting ingredients easier with a lot less worry. But, on the other hand, I am not a good baker as a result because I am not fussy enough. Do you follow a recipe when cooking? Some do always and others never do. I would be middle of the road, it depends on what I am cooking but no recipe is ever followed well.
During the pandemic it seems there was some learning in the kitchen. Not as much as most predicted, but some.

Just in case you are thinking of getting adventurous in the kitchen tonight, here is a ‘professional’ to show you the art of cooking popcorn shrimp. Notice even a pro reads the popcorn instructions, haha.
