Bridgewater Barrister Honoured For Her Work

A Bridgewater lawyer has just joined elite company.

Kathryn Dumke was one of fourteen people awarded the title of Queens Counsel this year.

The Q.C. designation recognizes exceptional merit and outstanding contribution to the legal community.

Dumke has been involved in professional development and creating continuing education programs for lawyers.

“It does demonstrate that I’m an experienced barrister, in this case because most of my work is barrister’s work. It really is quite an honour.”

She was nominated for the title by her peers.

“It’s an honour, it’s a wonderful honour to receive and I’m really very happy about it.”

The Dalhousie law graduate has been practicing in Bridgewater for the past 22 years.

As well as merit and legal contributions, recipients must also demonstrate their good character and personal integrity.

Lawyers with at least 15 years experience and meet the standards are eligible for the Q.C. designation.
